Shakuhachi Flute Lessons: Simple Songs : Shakuhachi Flute Lesson: Fingering Chart

Hi my name is David Zasloff. This is going
to be an intermediary shakuhachi class. We’re going to begin with this chart here. This
is a fingering chart for shakuhachi and it’s really cool because it gives you the shakuhachi
notation and it also gives you the American musical notation at the same time. So, for
example, on the 1.8 shakuhachi, the bottom note is a D, which is right here. All holes
closed as you can see here. This is the back hole, this is the front four holes and it
is a D. And there’s a D on the American notation and that D is equal by this symbol. This Japanese
musical symbol for D or row. These are all the musical notations, so if you want to learn
Japanese notation, here are all the Japanese figures for the notes and here are the corresponding
English notes up here. You can get anything connected to shakuhachi. You can get this
chart, you can get flute covers, flute caps, you can get flutes, flute cases, flute music,
anything you want you can get by going to my website.
