Djembe Drum Ring Repairs : Djembe Drum Rings: Making Rings

So, if you find for some reason that your
rings don’t work for some reason, that they’re too big or too small. Or in the case of this
drum that we’re working on today, if the steel is just really thin for the size of the drum,
so we’re going to remake the rings. So this is quarter inch steel that’s easy to find,
a hardware store, you don’t have to go to a specialty place for it. So this is just
a way that we bend them. This is pretty, you don’t need any special tools. These are two
nails and a piece of wood. So just little by little you just go bending and this steel
is not so hard that you can’t bend it by hand, which is nice. So it’ll, a little tricky to
get it, to get them nice and round. We’ve had some, quite a bit of practice doing this
but you should be able to do this. It might take you a little longer. So once you get to about the middle, you want
to measure them ahead, cut and measure your drum, ring ahead. I was about to say that.
Once you get to the middle, go back to the other end and start bending it.
